We currently have Icon filling available at our office.  An Icon filling is a non surgical option that does not require drilling the tooth in order to place the filling.  This micro-invasive technology fills and reinforces demineralizing enamel without drilling.  When an incipient lesion is small (beginning stages of a cavity), we are able to place an Icon filling with out removing any tooth structure. Visiting the dentist every 6 months makes it possible to catch the beginning stages of a cavity and place an icon filling, rather than drilling and filling the tooth.

Frequent snacking can contribute to your child's tooth decay.  Avoid snacking throughout the day.  Try to encourage your child to have 3 meals and 2 snacks per day.  Pick healthy tooth-friendly snacks like cheese, blueberries, whole wheat cereal, vegetables, almonds, or yogurt.  It is okay to have sweets sometimes, just not every day.
